ABT Sportsline 2012 – Press release CW46
Power, prestige and performance – ABT AS4 and AS4 Avant

When exactly four decades ago Audi presented the “80”, the new A4’s “forefather”, ABT was
part of it. The traditional Bavarian company has quenched drivers’ thirst for high-performance
cars from the very beginning and individualised the medium-sized cars from Germany. “The
A4 is a benchmark against which Audi’s competitors have to be measured. This car sets
premium standards”, says Hans-Jürgen Abt, managing director of ABT Sportsline. As the
ABT AS4 it stands for maximum dynamics and agility, but also for economic efficiency,
roadworthiness and a self-confidently discreet design. The same applies to the practical
A4 Avant. The new ABT AS4 is the latest milestone in a successful development that began
40 years ago.

The range of engines for the A4 and A4 Avant has something for everyone. Frequent drivers
who want to be both fast and economical can use the balanced and powerful diesel engines.
The 3.0 TDI in its ABT version with 300 hp (221 kW) and 570 Nm is a cool and dependable
companion in every situation. Its 55 hp (41 kW) and 70 Nm uprating make for much torque
and sportiness. The “little” Diesel is particularly economical in its 2 liter version, available
in two variants. Depending upon the original standard performance, it has up to 205 hp
(151 kW). And with 420 Nm (serial version: 380 Nm) it shows a lot of torque. The two turbo
petrol engines are also sporty, efficient and active: The 1.8 TFSI ABT has 211 hp or 155 kW
(serial version: 170 hp/125 kW). The 2.0 TFSI is a product of much engineering process and
motor sport know-how: its 270 hp or 199 kW (serial version: 211 hp/155 kW) turn the new
ABT AS4 in a fully roadworthy sports car.

It goes without saying that ABT Sportsline has also developed aerodynamic components for
the A4 limo and the A4 Avant: front spoiler, fender inserts and side skirts give it its elegant
silhouette. The rear end features a striking spoiler, rear skirt and 4-pipe exhaust system, as it
becomes the ABT AS4 and AS4 Avant and their dynamism. The suspension springs lower
the car’s CoG, which, in turn, underscores the car’s looks and makes it easier to drive. What
is really “premium” about it is the ABT performance coil-over kit, which combines
maximum comfort and utmost precision. We recommend to use the ABT wheels CR and DR,
available in 19 and 20 inches. Of course, ABT Sportsline also sells the design wheels with
high-speed tires. After all the ABT AS4 stands for power, prestige and performance even in
the tiniest detail.

2013 Audi Q5 tuned by ABT

Friday, November 2, 2012

ABT Sportsline is now offering an upgrade kit for the facelifted 2013 Audi Q5, including power boost for two diesel engines. In its standard configuration, the 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine produces 177 HP (130 kW) and 280 lb-ft (380 Nm), while after ABT’s intervention it develops 205 HP (151 kW) and 309 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque. They also worked on the 3.0-liter TDI which can pump out 282 HP (207 kW) and 464 lb-ft (630 Nm), up from the standard 245 HP (176 kW) and 428 lb-ft (580 Nm). Aside from the power hike, ABT is also offering a new exhaust system with two double pipes, as well as various wheel designs ranging from 20 to 22 inches. The tuner has updated the SUV’s front grille and installed fender extensions. Other modifications were performed on the door strip attachments, rear skirt set and rear wing. As a final touch, the Audi Q5 has been lowered by approximately 30mm after installing ABT’s suspension springs.

Audi A1 quattro by ABT

Sunday, October 28, 2012

German tuner ABT has decided to take a look at the limited-run Audi A1 quattro and see if they can make it even more impressive. While the standard model pumps out 256 HP (188 kW) from the 4-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, this tuned version unleashes 307 HP (226 kW). The torque figure is also up from the standard 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) to 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) between 2,500 rpm and 5,000 rpm. As a consequence to this power hike, the A1 quattro is capable of doing the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 5.4 seconds, making it 0.3 seconds quicker than the stock model. According to ABT, this power boost does not have an impact on the pocket rocket’s fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.

Thanks to the extra oomph, the car accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 8.8 seconds which 0.6 seconds faster than the standard model. ABT AS1 Sportback

ABT has worked their magic on the new Audi A1 Sportback to create the AS1 Sportback. Giving the smallest Audi a styling and performance lift, ABT boasts that ‘Sports is back’. On the styling front, ABT have left the front S-Line bumper as is, but have added carbon fibre vents to the wings just behind the wheels, and there are carbon fibre side skirt additions too. At the rear there is a carbon diffuser with a centrally mounted twin exit exhaust system to give the A1 a bit of much needed aural embellishment. Giving the biggest visual improvement are a set of 18-inch ABT split-rim alloy wheels which are considerably lighter than the stock items. There’s been a fair bit of work under the bonnet too, with the 1.4 litre TFSi engine in both states of tune a boost. The 122 hp model jumps to 160 hp, while 185 hp variant now has 210 hp, enough for a decent performance increase. There are also smaller increases available for the 1.2 litre petrol and 1.6 litre TDi engines.

On the outside, ABT is preparing several packages such as an aero kit comprising of a front spoiler, a rear apron incorporating a diffuser, a large rear wing and side skirts along with unique tail pipes, special paint jobs, headlamps and tail light covers, and carbon fiber accessories.
More detailed information on ABT’s offerings for the new 2012 VW Beetle will be released at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

ABT Audi R8

The sideblades which were developed especially for the Abt R8 and the Abt side skirts give the Abt R8 a new and individual design besides aerodynamical advantages. This is especially notable in speed ranges reserved for only a few cars. The add-on parts of the super sports cars from the Allgäu-region improve downforce and ensure perfect balance of the front and rear axis. Together with the unique and beautiful rear with its four inclined arranged exhaust end pipes, the rear diffuser and the extravagant rear wing, the front of the Abt R8 is part of an overall concept that brings about phenomenal roadholding.

The front of the Bavarian R8 shows the marked Abt face. The design studies already show the first impressions of Abt's sportiest creation - and prove that the Kempten-based tuner manages to perfect an excellent serial model like the R8 to detail and accentuate its racing genes already in the drawing. Abt Sportsline's R8 will also be among these outstanding super sports cars and is getting ready to overtake them in the prestige duel. These cars make your heart beat faster and show the perfected magic of speed on the roads.

The latter includes Lamborghini's Gallardo, Ferrari's F430 or Porsche's 911 Turbo.  There are cars and dream cars.
